In September 2001, Kevin Davies visited Cornwall, revisiting film sets from the HHGG TV series. He discovered that the Par Fowey tunnel (a private mining tunnel owned by Imerys that is usually closed to the public -- used as the tunnel into Magrathea in the TV series) was opening that year for a local school to use for their charity bike ride.

One year and a lot of enquiries later, ZZ9 took a long weekend to visit this and other sets from the TV series. We saw the vast alien plains of the quarry that was Magrathea, the tunnel where Slartibartfast flew his aircar to the centre of Magrathea, and the beach where Marvin played with a beach-ball and where Douglas Adams walked naked into the sea. We also visited The Eden Project -- relevant because of course Douglas Adams was a great fan of conservation.

It was a fantastic weekend. Maybe we'll make a repeat visit one day.

Thanks to JonJo, Leon, Liam and poppy for letting us use their pictures here.
